Outdoor kitchenAn outdoor kitchen - imagine the possibilities!Imagine how wonderful a complete outdoor kitchen set would be for your home! Invite friends and family over to enjoy a casual afternoon on your patio, while enjoying the convenience and luxury of a quality outdoor kitchen. What should your outdoor kitchen include? Well, that depends on how frequently you entertain on your patio – and how many people usually come by. There are many different possibilities. You can have a gas grill, smoker, BBQs, space heater (for the autumn and early spring months) and a refrigerator to accommodate your entertaining style. Just like your indoor kitchen, an outdoor kitchen can feature an island, complete with additional eating space, prep room and electrical outlets. Your island can be constructed of the finest materials, such as exotic hardwoods with polished granite countertops, to withstand the elements and provide years of use. If you like to grill, your outdoor kitchen grilling options are vast. The average grill starts at $200 and can go up to as much as $3,000. Keep in mind that the price of the grill is directly proportional to the amount of cooking space the grill will give you. You literally pay for grill space! If you usually have larger groups of friends stopping by for a casual dinner on the patio on the weekend, you should invest in a larger grill or Jenn-air system to accommodate everybody’s hungry appetites. Top of the line grills will feature a motorized rotisserie, separate smoker and dual burner cooktop to have the best cooking possibilities at your fingertips. Any serious grillmaster would salivate over the chance to work these grills. Regardless, if you and your household rarely use the patio area, investing in an expensive grill and outdoor kitchen setting isn’t wise. Plan your outdoor kitchen according to your current lifestyle, not on the idea that you might start entertaining eventually. Don’t forget the ambiance. An essential addition to any outdoor kitchen is the outdoor lighting, a crucial element when the sun starts to sink beneath the trees or below the water. You don’t want bright, direct bulbs staring into your guests’ eyes, but rather look for a soft, subtle lighting environment to let everyone see where they’re going, but not blind them in the dark!
